Treating Hemorrhoids… 5 Tips
What are hemorrhoids? Hemorrhoids are piles of swollen veins in the anal and rectum area, which may enlarge abundantly to dangle outside the anus.
Hemorrhoids are pretty common, normally resulting from prolonged constipation and have a tendency to be genetic. Hemorrhoids can cause bleeding, itching and possibly minor pain from the anus, and not very often, severe pain. In unusual cases they may need to be removed surgically or injected with a sclerosing agent, which causes them to shrivel up.
There are two kinds of Hemorrhoids:
1. Internal hemorrhoids may occur inside the rectum beneath the anus lining.
2. External hemorrhoids which are uncomfortable swellings at the sides of the anus. This is caused by a rupture of the anal veins.
Here are some Tips for treating hemorrhoids:
1. Modify your diet
One thing you can do in treating hemorrhoids is to modify your diet. The first thing you must do is to make sure that everyday you must drink at least 6 glasses of water and also increase your fiber intake. Because fiber helps you ease up the defecation process, by including fiber in your daily meals, you not only treat the hemorrhoidstreat the hemorrhoids by decreasing the amount of pressure you put on them, but also prevent their development.
2. Exercise regularly
If the veins by your anus are tender, it is easier to get hemorrhoids. By exercising regularly, you will increase the strength of your veins.
3. Take a sitz bath
By taking a 10 – 20 minute sitz bath, 2 – 4 times daily, this will bring heat to the area and give you a reprieve from any pain and promote healing.
4. Keep clean the anal area
You need to clean your anal at least daily while in the shower with a mild soap. You can also use the mild soap and gently apply it after a bowel movement to keep the area clean. You should avoid forcible rubbing of the area.
5. Talcum powder
Talcum powder is usually used to soak up moisture. So, you can use this after going to the bathroom to maintain a dry area around the anus and promote healing of the area.
