Hawaii: A Wonderful And Historically Rich Community
Aloha! Beautiful Hawaii is one of the very best holiday attractions within the United States. For good reason too! This set of islands offers beauty beyond comparison and doesn’t require a passport for American citizens. It is the 50th of the fifty states, but the culture here is so various it feels like you’re in a whole different place.
There are numerous islands here, however the eight main ones are listed as the following: Hawai’i, often called The Big Island, Maui, The Valley Isle, Kaho’olawe, The Target Isle, Lana’i, The Pineapple Isle, Moloka’i, The Friendly Isle, O’ahu, The Gathering Place, Kaua’i, The Garden Isle and of course Ni’ihau, The Forbidden Isle.
The indigenous Hawaiian language of the islands is quite beautiful to listen to, but Hawaii boasts two official languages. Both Hawaiian and English are spoken fluently here. Even though using the first has decreased through the years there has been a recent resurgence with the culture. Educational facilities are found all over the islands targeted at breathing life back into this unique and charming culture.
Mauna Kea is the archipelago’s tallest mountain and is located on the Big Island. Even though it’s officially quoted to be 13,796 feet tall it’s taller than Mt. Everest when calculated from the starting point from the mountain at the floor of the Pacific Ocean; an astonishing 33,500 feet!.
The weather throughout Hawaii is fabulous year round. It has the general temperature patterns for a exotic locale. The trade winds, though, make humidity lower than in many other tropical areas around the world. The islands essentially have only two seasons, the dry season from May and lasts until October and the wet season that takes place later in November and lasts throughout March.
If you’re looking for a history lesson when going to Hawaii then it has that too. Japan attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 and brought America into World War II. Today you can take a look at Pearl Harbor and find out insightful facts regarding just what occurred on that historical day.
Significant towns in the islands, which are suggested to experience, include Honolulu (which is the capital), Waiakea, Haleiwa, Poipu, Lahaina, Kohala, Waimanalo and Kailua. Each features its individual contribution towards a exceptional family vacation experience.
The islands offer several distinctive ethnic groups who, over time, have come to call Hawaii home. To name a few, Polynesian, Japanese, Filipino, Korean, Chinese, German, English, Irish, Portuguese, Italian, African, French, Mexican, Scottish and Puerto Rican. Each have left their own mark.
This brief description isn’t sufficient to do this visitor location justice. A visit would be necessary to actually discover Hawaii’s charm and history – just ask anyone fortunate enough to have vacationed on any of the islands.
