Can a Celebrity Hollywood Workout Be Effective?
There’s no doubt that Hollywood actors and actresses develop some of the best bodies for their roles. How do these idols of Hollywood workout to keep looking physically perfect? Often a celebrity’s fans will use that actor or actress’s workout routine, hoping to have the same success. People often fail to think about one important question: do these celebrity workouts and diets really work? Can you truly attain the body you want by using a Hollywood workout?
The physical Hollywood ideal has developed and changed over the years. Decades ago, Arnold Schwarzenegger set the standard for a great body with every red blooded American male seeking to look like the Terminator. Today, it would appear that this ideal has waned in popularity because body builders aren’t in much demand in celebrity circles. Brad Pitt as Tyler Durden in the movie Fight Club changed the way Hollywood wanted to see actors look physically. Pitt had a muscular build, a tough guy image, and low body fat. His body set the gold standard for years to come and is still highly influential today.
In the decade since the movie’s release, even more great bodies have emerged from Hollywood. After his role in Fight Club, Pitt continued to sculpt his body, making the muscles more prominent for his appearance in the movie Troy. Ryan Reynolds truly transformed himself in Blade Trinity where he sports an amazing set of abs. The whole cast of the movie 300, including Gerard Butler, built great bodies worthy of the Spartans. However, the most influential transformation involves Taylor Lautner, the star of Twilight who plays Jacob Black.
Surely if all of these Hollywood actors can get such great bodies, there must be some fitness tips out there that are common to all of the workout routines we hear about. However, for the most part, celebrity workouts and diets vary significantly from one another. Some of the celebrity programs involve circuit training that involves all the muscle groups while other programs focus on only one muscle group daily. The amount of time that different celebrities spend training varies significantly too; some might workout for only half an hour or so while some spend two hours or more working out. Some celebrities eat small meals every 2-3 hours; others eat regular meals but limit sugar or alcohol.
However, each of these stars has managed to get into excellent shape, even though the routines vary widely. How can the results be the same when the methods are so different? Dedication and hard work. It’s not their family backgrounds that give celebrities the bodies that many of us crave, although they do have a secret. They simply have the time, money, and desire to get the best body possible. If someone offered you $20 million to get in the best shape of your life in just 3-6 months, you’d find a way to do it even if it meant getting up at the crack of dawn, working out hours on end, and severely restricting your diet.
Because celebrities can dedicate long hours to getting good bodies, they have plenty of room for error in workout routines. With enough motivation and time, a poor workout program can be combined with a doable eating routine to be more successful than you might imagine. Celebrities don’t have to tackle this job alone either; they hire personal nutritionists and personal trainers to help them. Most of us average folks, however, will never have the money or the time or the personalized help to be successful with these routines. This greatly increases the chance of failure.
So, what can you learn from a Hollywood workout? Can they really teach you how to get an ideal body? I’d argue the only real lesson is that celebrity workouts and diets can help you get in shape with enough hard work, just like any other fitness program. However, if you want to exercise more efficiently, then don’t simply follow your favorite celebrity’s workout and diet plan. You might not have as much time to exercise as they do. In addition, what works well for their metabolism might not work well for yours. Instead, strive for the Hollywood look, not the Hollywood workout routine, with more time efficient workouts.
