I am not going to dilly dally about this one. Let the person find you first online. Few people have realized the power of this method in searching for people online.

This article is about how to leave a digital trail all over the web in order for your friend to find you and then get in contact with you.

One condition to making this method work is that the person you are trying to lure should also be an interent user.

Agressively increase your presence on the internet using identity details your friend can easily spot as yours. Below let me share about some of the ways in which you can entrench your name online.

1. Become a member of social networks: Become a member of popular social networks like Linkedin, Facebook, Mysapce and more. When registering your personal details to these sites remember to use words (e.g. nicknames) that you friend used to call you by.

2. Participate on these networks and forums: As son as you become a member of any network, participate in them. You can do this by joining certain “groups” within the network, participating in discussion and generally being out there. This is what I call leaving a digital trail to lure your friend to come to you.

3. Think about your friend’s interests and visit relevant sites and join their networks; If you can still remember some of the things that your friend loved, then list them down as keywords and use search engines to find sites that are relevant to those. Join those sites using identity details he or she will easily identify and be active.

4. Register a domain using your name or nickname: Within the site, mention your friend a number of time along with your name. Nowadays people use Google alerts to tell them that their name has been mentioned some where online or has been Googled. A number of people, including, myself have Googled themselves just for the fun of it. I am sure your friend is like most of us, he or she will look herself up in search engines and may appear in your website of online profile. Chances are the friend will get curious and try to see who mentioned his or her name.
