A review of HostGator Web Hosting
I have been using my current web hosting company, HostGator for about a year now. Prior to that, I found myself rather in a vortex with a hosting company that I’d grown tired of after some unacceptable support delays,horrific downtimes, incredible data losses with no available backups and other gaffes. I tried to find a way to move my site painlessly and quickly to another host, but to no avail. After the umpteenth major screw-up that actually ended up costing me about unbelievable amounts of lost content, I’d had enough. Any trouble I’d go through to get off their server network would be worth it as far as I was concerned. I was prepared for the worst, but I had to do it.
I discovered HostGator, and all I can say is I wish that I’d found them MONTHS earlier than I did. Had I done that, I would have saved myself TONS of heartache and torture.
The best part? They took care of moving my site over (which was no small feat, considering the VAST size of my blog’s database and image gallery), and putting everything up on my new server account for me. Their response time during the transition was beyond description. I was absolutely stunnedd at how quickly and smoothly everything went. I literally experienced NO DOWNTIME during the changeover.
Since then, I found the performance and uptime to be absolutely TOP-NOTCH. I haven’t needed support very much since I’ve been with them. But whenever I contacted their technical support with a question or issue, it was dealt with in record time. And I’m a huge stickler for getting good support from any company I do business with.
A little history about me, I used to be in the web hosting business. I had my own web hosting, development and management company in Los Angeles from 1995 until 2001, and owned part of another company until 2002. My company had its own server network, and I know all about the hosting business inside and out. It’s not easy to provide quality service, support and performance.
Now that I’m long out of the business, I always wondered if I would ever find a source for web hosting services that would meet or exceed the quality and performance standards that I was accustomed to giving my own clients. Suffice it to say, I’ve found that with HostGator. They have never dropped the ball on me. If you have a site or a blog, or even multiple sites, then it is definitely in your best interest to check them out. Their service and performance is outstanding, and their prices are simply unbeatable.
